mini crossover Toyota C-HR created according to the templates of the concepts of the same name: the first one was shown in 2014 at the Paris Motor Show, the second - one year later at the Frankfurt Motor Show. The serial car inherited from the prototypes large wheel arches, the shape of the stampings on the sidewalls, the coupe-like silhouette and the headlights “stretched” almost to the upper edge of the hood. Even its name is fraught with a commitment to the ideas of a conqueror, first of all, of urban spaces - C-HR stands for Coupé High-Rider.
The C-HR model was developed by specialists from the Japanese and European divisions of Toyota Motor, and specialists from the Toyota ED2 studio in France worked on its design. C-HR became the second model on the TNGA (Toyota New Global Architecture) platform after the fourth generation Prius hatchback. According to the engineers of the Japanese brand, this architecture provided a low center of gravity with a "commander" landing of the driver, close to optimal weight distribution between the axles and the possibility of installing a hybrid power plant.
Overall length Toyota C-HR is 4360 mm, width - 1795 mm, height - 1565 mm, wheelbase - 2640 mm, ground clearance - 160 mm. Thus the C-HR is 225mm longer and 30mm wider Nissan Juke. In terms of the distance between the front and rear axles, the C-HR outperforms the Dzhuk by 110 mm, and they have the same height. The front suspension of the C–HR crossover is with MacPherson struts, the rear is multi-link, the trunk volume is 297 liters (the second-row backs fold in a 40:60 ratio), and the power steering is electric.

In our market, the Toyota C-HR is offered with two four-cylinder petrol engines: a 2.0-liter 3ZR-FAE aspirated (148 hp, 189 Nm) and a 1.2-liter 8NR-FTS turbo unit (116 hp, 185 Nm). The naturally aspirated engine is paired with a Multidrive S CVT and front-wheel drive. The turbocharged engine can be paired with a 6-speed "mechanics" (front-wheel drive) or with a variator (all-wheel drive with a multi-plate clutch).
At the same time, the dynamic characteristics of the versions differ minimally. The "two-liter" C-HR accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h in 11 seconds and consumes 6.9 liters of gasoline per 100 km in the combined cycle. A modification with a 1.2 engine and a manual transmission gains a “hundred” in 10.9 seconds and consumes 6.3 l / 100 km according to the passport. Toyota C-HR with a turbo engine, CVT and all-wheel drive accelerates from 0 to 100 km / h in 11.4 seconds and “eats” 6.6 liters of fuel per 100 kilometers in the combined cycle. The maximum speed of the Toyota C-HR with a 2.0-liter engine is 195 km / h, versions with a 1.2-liter engine accelerate to 180 km / h (variator) and 190 km / h (manual transmission).
In November 2017 to the C-HR range on the Ukrainian market added front-wheel drive hybrid modification in three equipment levels. The Hybrid version is equipped with a power plant based on a 1.8-liter naturally aspirated 2ZR-FXE engine and an electronically controlled continuously variable variator. The internal combustion engine develops up to 98 hp. and 142 Nm, and the total power of the system, taking into account the electric motor, reaches 122 hp. This Toyota C-HR takes 11 seconds to accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h. Gasoline consumption in the combined cycle is 4.0 l/100 km.
In Euro NCAP crash tests, the 2017 Toyota C-HR crossover received the highest rating - Five Stars. For the protection of the driver and adult passenger, C-HR scored 95% of the possible points, for the protection of a child passenger - 77%, pedestrian protection - 76%, the operation of safety devices - 78%.

The Toyota C-HR crossover has been mass-produced at the TMMT (Toyota Motor Manufacturing Turkey) plant in Sakarya since November 2016. This enterprise also launched the production of the Toyota Corolla sedan and the Toyota Verso compact van. Ukrainian model sales started in December 2016.
