Automobile Toyota Avensis is the successor to the popular Carina E model. The first Avensis appeared in 1997 and differed from its predecessor in larger dimensions. The first generation Avensis was produced until 2002 in three body styles: station wagon, liftback and sedan. The French design center of the concern was responsible for developing the body of the second generation of cars. The platform of the new model has grown a little more, as a result of which the total length of the machine was 4630 mm. Initially, Toyota Avensis was equipped with one diesel and three gasoline power units. Later, the engine range was supplemented with one more gasoline and one diesel engine. It is noteworthy that a 2.4-liter gasoline unit with a capacity of 161 horsepower has become the most powerful solution of the Avensis series. A major achievement of the car was the result of crash tests Euro-NCAP. According to the results of testing, the car was recognized as the safest vehicle, having managed to score 34 points out of 36. In 2006, the Japanese corporation updated the second generation Toyota Avensis, changing both the body of the car and the interior.

third generation Toyota Avensis appeared in 2008 and received updated front and rear optics, bumpers and grille. The interior has also been seriously redesigned. On the Ukrainian market, Toyota Avensis was offered in two body styles - a classic sedan and a station wagon. Two engines have disappeared from the line of power units that were equipped with cars of the previous generation. As a result, only one gasoline engine remained, with a volume of 1.8 liters and a power of 147 hp. In addition to it, the updated Toyota Avensis 2012 was equipped with two gearboxes - a 6-speed manual or a CVT. With it, the car accelerates to 100 km / h in 10.4 seconds, and with mechanics a second faster. However, fuel consumption in the combined cycle, regardless of the type of transmission, remains approximately the same - about 6.5 liters per 100 km. The 2012 Toyota Avensis sedan came in four trim levels, while the station wagon came in only two.

Once again, the updated Toyota Avensis is presented in Ukraine in two body types: sedan and station wagon. The car features a more dynamic and elegant exterior design, improved interior quality, increased comfort, improved driving dynamics, improved sound insulation, as well as a set of new options, such as: LED daytime running lights, combined leather and Alcantara upholstery, new infotainment Toyota Touch entertainment system with touch screen.

The exterior design of Avensis has become more dynamic and bold. This effect was achieved by changing the proportions of the upper and lower grilles, with an emphasis on increasing the lower one, which gave the car a more aggressive appearance. Narrower, more expressive headlights underline the new elegant design. An additional accent in the stylish design of the car creates a new chrome lining on the trunk lid. In addition, a new option has been added to the car - LED daytime running lights in combination with xenon combined dipped and main beam headlights with adaptive leveling system (AFS), the headlights and fog lamps have been redesigned.

In Ukraine, the updated Avensis is presented with petrol engines of 1.8 and 2.0 liters in three versions to choose from: Sol, Sol+ And Elegant. In the Sol + package, the car is presented with new stylish modern alloy wheels. Of the changes in the design of the updated Toyota Avensis, it should be noted an increase in body rigidity, improved aerodynamic characteristics, improved noise and vibration isolation, more comfortable front seats, as well as improved performance of the electric power steering (EPS) system. In addition, the backlighting of the instrument panel has been changed, making it easier to read for the driver. The facelifted Avensis introduces a new 15.5 cm (6.1 in) touchscreen infotainment system, the Toyota Touch with rear view camera.

Toyota Avensis is offered with two power plant options (engine and transmission):

1. Avensis 1.8 Valvematic is a 6-speed manual transmission version with a 1798cc four-cylinder petrol engine (147 hp at 6400 rpm and 180 Nm at 3800 rpm). To 100 km / h, this model accelerates in 9.4 seconds (9.7 seconds for the Touring Sports wagon), and a top speed of 200 km / h. Combined fuel consumption is 6.5 l/100 km;
2. Avensis 1.8 Valvematic is the version with Multidrive S CVT, 1798cc petrol four-cylinder engine (147 hp at 6400 rpm and 180 Nm at 3800 rpm). To 100 km / h, this model accelerates in 10.4 seconds (10.7 seconds for the Touring Sports station wagon), and a top speed of 200 km / h. Combined fuel consumption is 6.4 l/100 km.
