Toyota Camry - the eighth generation of the model debuted in January 2017 at the Detroit Auto Show, and stock car production was launched in June of the same year. The new iteration sedan was built on the Toyota New Global Architecture (TNGA) platform, which also formed the basis of the Prius hybrid family and the C-HR compact crossover.
The new Toyota Camry appeared in Ukrainian Toyota dealerships in January 2018. In our market the sedan is presented in 4 trim levels: Comfort, Elegance, Prestige and Premium. The car is available with a 2.5-liter naturally aspirated Dual VVT-i engine with 181 hp. (231 Nm) and 6-speed automatic transmission.
For equipment levels Comfort, Elegance, Prestige a multimedia system with a 7-inch touch screen and 6 speakers is provided, while the top-end equipment received an 8-inch screen and JBL acoustics with 9 speakers. By default, the car is equipped with LED headlights with washers and LED fog lights, cruise control, parking sensors and a rear-view camera, heated front seats, climate control and other equipment.
In October 2018 Toyota introduced at the Paris Motor Show a hybrid version of the Camry sedan. Externally, such a modification can be distinguished by the brand logos with a blue accent, and inside - by the dashboard with an indicator of the operating modes of the power plant, which is located in place of the tachometer. The official sales of the hybrid Camry in our market were announced in May 2019.
Toyota Camry Hybrid XV70 is equipped with a power plant, which is also found on the petrol-electric version of the crossover RAV4. Gasoline “aspirated” A25A-FXS with a volume of 2.5 liters (178 hp, 221 Nm) is supplemented by an electric motor (120 hp, 202 Nm), a nickel-metal hydride battery with a capacity of 6.5 Ah and a planetary transmission. The total power of the installation is 218 hp, from 0 to 100 km / h such a sedan accelerates in 8.3 seconds, and the maximum speed is limited to 180 km / h. The declared consumption of gasoline in the combined cycle is 4.3 / 4.4 liters per “hundred”.
In Ukraine, the seventieth Camry with a hybrid installation is available in the top-end Premium package, which is slightly different from just a gasoline Camry in the same equipment. In particular, the door handles are painted in body color (they are chrome-plated in the non-hybrid), the driving mode switch is installed on the center console, a rear cross-traffic assistant is installed, a power steering column, wireless charging for a smartphone, power front seats and a head-up display. At the same time, the traffic sign recognition system and heated second-row seats were excluded from the configuration.
